How does SiftPics detect NSFW content?
SiftPics uses advanced AI deep learning models (ONNX-based neural networks) to analyze images locally on your device. The model has been trained on millions of images to accurately detect inappropriate content across multiple categories. All processing happens offline - your files never leave your computer.
Is my data sent to the cloud?
No. SiftPics is 100% offline. Your images are never uploaded anywhere. The AI model runs entirely on your local machine. The only network requests are for license validation (once every 48 hours) and checking for app updates. Your files remain completely private.
What file types are supported?
Images: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP
Videos: MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV, WebM (Pro feature)
Animated: GIF files are analyzed frame-by-frame
Archives: ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ (optional extraction)
Platforms: Windows 10+, macOS 11+, Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian, Fedora)
How do I activate my license?
After purchase, you'll receive a license key via email. In SiftPics, go to Settings → License and enter your key. The license activates instantly and allows use on up to 3 devices.
Can I use SiftPics offline?
Yes! SiftPics works completely offline. Licensed users have a 7-day offline grace period before needing to reconnect for license validation. Scanning, detection, and file operations all work without internet.
Are there any API rate limits?

SiftPics performs all AI scanning locally on your device with no rate limits. However, for license validation and cloud features, the following limits apply:

  • License activation: 10 attempts per 15 minutes per device
  • Session heartbeats: Every ~5 minutes while app is running
  • Full revalidation: Every 48 hours (cached locally)
  • API requests: 100 requests per 15 minutes per IP
  • Password reset: 5 attempts per hour per email

If you encounter rate limit errors, wait a few minutes and try again. This protects our servers and your account from abuse.

What does "secure deletion" mean?
When you delete files with SiftPics's secure shredder, they're overwritten multiple times with random data before deletion (following DOD 5220.22-M standard). This makes recovery virtually impossible, even with forensic tools. Regular deletion just removes the file pointer - the data remains recoverable.
How accurate is the detection?
Our AI model achieves high accuracy on standard benchmarks. However, no AI is perfect. You can adjust the sensitivity threshold in Settings to balance between catching more content (with some false positives) or being more conservative. We recommend reviewing flagged files before deletion.
Can SiftPics scan files inside archives (ZIP, RAR, 7Z)?

Yes! SiftPics can extract and scan files within compressed archives (ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, etc.).

This feature is optional and disabled by default for performance reasons. To enable it:

  1. Go to Settings → File Filters
  2. Scroll to "What to Scan" section
  3. Toggle ON "Archives (Extract & Scan)"
  4. Start your scan

⚠️ Note: Archive extraction may significantly slow down scans and use temporary disk space. Encrypted archives cannot be scanned.

If you prefer not to use automatic extraction, you can extract archives manually and then scan the extracted folder.
